To establish an airport in Maryland:

  1. Obtain FAA airspace approval using FAA Form 7480-1.
  2. Obtain local county zoning approval
    Contact your local zoning office. Scroll down for a list of local zoning offices.
  3. Complete an Application for Airport License/Registration
  4. Pass a safety inspection from the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA)

We will assist in the initial site inspection. We will provide a recommendation letter, as appropriate. We will conduct a final airport inspection if all other requirements have been met and the site is ready for use.
A State license or registration will be issued after meeting all requirements of the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR), Chapter 4.
